The death threat charge was later dropped. Remnev's friend, tattoo artist Svetlana Agibalova, who is on the same case with him, claims that she found an advert on Avito, contacted the customer, and he asked her to put images on the doors of several flats, while Remnev only accompanied her and helped her hold the stencil. She claims that she thought that occult groups would meet in these flats. On 23 June 2025, Remnev was sentenced to three and a half years in a general regime penal colony. On 24 September 2025, the court of appeal changed the sentence: the vandalism charge was returned to the court of first instance, the charge of obstructing the work of journalists was partially reclassified to attempted obstruction, and the total sentence was reduced by three months. The vandalism case came before the court in November 2025. On 11 December 2025, the court decided to discontinue the prosecution due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. Remnev was allegedly released in January 2026.
