The next day Idibekov was fined under an administrative article on discrediting the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) because, as explained in the text of the court ruling, Putin is the commander-in-chief. On 5 March 2026, the Investigative Committee reported that a criminal case had been opened against Idibekov because of other statements on the escalator on 24 February, namely in support of Alexei Navalny. At the same time, Navalny is included in the list of extremists and terrorists of Rosfinmonitoring as an extremist, and there is no court decision against him to recognise him as involved in terrorist activities. A case was brought against Navalny for public justification of terrorism, but it did not reach the court.
