Batyrbek Karabugaev

A resident of Cherkessk. On 24 November 2014, he was detained on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement in the activities of the Islamic movement Tablighi Jamaat. Its adherents are persecuted solely on the grounds of their religious activities. On 14 May 2015, Karabugaev was given a one-year suspended sentence.
