Criminal proceedings were initiated against him on charges of organizing and financing terrorist activities - specifically regarding posts describing the process of raising funds for the "Siberian Battalion," which fights alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine - as well as on charges of inciting terrorism for urging donations to the "Siberian Battalion" and inciting activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation for speaking at a rally in Madrid where he called for assistance to Ukraine.
