Alexander Kachkurkin

An IT specialist, DevOps engineer and developer. He lived in Crimea and moved to Kazakhstan after the start of the war. On 28 January 2026, he was detained in Almaty. He was reported for crossing the road in an inappropriate place and smoking hookah indoors. The Department One project claims that both police reports were falsified: according to lawyer Evgenii Smirnov, the policeman stopped Kachkurkin, asked him to cross the road and indicated a specific place where he was going to check his documents, and then a report on crossing the road in an inappropriate place was drawn up. The police appealed to the court to expel Kachkurkin from the country for "contempt of sovereignty". The court ruled accordingly, after which the man was immediately taken to the airport and sent to Moscow, where upon arrival he was immediately detained right on the plane. On 31 January 2026, Kachkurkin was taken into custody on charges of high treason. According to Department One, the case is related to unspecified money transfers to Ukraine.
