The Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) has removed schoolgirl Anna Zhuravlyova from its list of “terrorists and extremists.” Zhuravlyova was detained at the age of 14 in connection with allegations she was preparing to attack a school. This was reported by Takie Dela, citing lawyer Petr Khromov. Information about Zhuravlyova’s removal has also appeared on the Rosfinmonitoring website’s list.
According to Khromov, in spring 2026, criminal prosecution against Zhuravlyova under charges of participating in a terrorist organisation (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code) was halted. The lawyer suggests this may have been linked to her case being handed over to the central office of the Investigative Committee in June 2025: he said the authorities there “recognised the absurdity of the accusation.”
Zhuravlyova was detained in November 2023. Investigators claimed the schoolgirl was a member of the movement “Columbine,” which has been designated as terrorist, and was preparing a school attack. The case was initiated, among other reasons, because of a video showing her setting off a firework on wasteland; however, expert analysis confirmed the firework was not an explosive device.
Zhuravlyova spent more than a year and a half in detention. She reported that while in the detention facility, she was beaten and subjected to sexual violence by fellow detainees. In June 2025, the schoolgirl was released on a travel restriction order. Later, a criminal case was opened against three of her former cellmates for torture and violent acts of a sexual nature.
