Boris Nadezhdin has left Russia

The politician posted a video on his Telegram channel that was filmed in Paris.

—There’s good news. I am alive and free. Unfortunately, for now, I’m not in Russia. At the moment, I need to get my bearings and figure out how to live going forward. I’ll write about my plans later.

Previously, Nadezhdin was declared a “foreign agent,” and three days later was detained. He was accused of displaying “extremist symbols” because of a photograph of Alexei Navalny and fined one thousand roubles (about US$11). This deprived him of the opportunity to take part in the State Duma elections, which will take place in September. The politician was also banned from leaving Russia.
