In the past week, staff at Detention Centre No. 1 in Gorno-Altaysk—a city in southern Siberia—have issued five disciplinary penalties at once to political prisoner Georgy Paramoshin. This was reported by lawyer Natalia Tikhonova on her Telegram channel.
In just one day, the author of the “NATSDEM” channel, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for “extremism,” received three reprimands, with another two written up later. One of the official reasons was that the detention centre administration demanded that requests for prisoner uniforms be made through formal applications, even though they are obliged to provide them automatically.
“Given that the head of this institution said things to me along the lines of ‘we know how to handle people like this,’ there’s nothing good to be expected from this place. I hope the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Altai Republic at least accidentally stumbles upon this post somewhere and pays attention to the behaviour of the administration at Detention Centre No. 1 in Gorno-Altaysk,” wrote Tikhonova.
Previously, Paramoshin was placed on preventive monitoring as someone deemed “prone to escape and attacking staff.” Because of the penalties, he was deprived of the possibility of a long visit. His lawyer notes she now intends to challenge the actions of the detention centre administration in court.
Who is Georgy Paramoshin
Paramoshin is the administrator of the Telegram channel “NATSDEM.” In October 2025, he was sentenced to eight years in prison, accused of inciting hatred, calling for extremism, and organising an extremist community.
