On 23 January, the Ostankinsky District Court in Moscow remanded a local resident in custody on charges of financing terrorism (Part 1.1, Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code). Lawyer Mikhail Biryukov, who represented her in court, told OVD-Info.
According to investigators, between December 2021 and February 2024, the accused sent five donations to ‘Artpodgotovka’ totalling 8,495 roubles (approximately US$90). Four were made via the DonationAlerts service, and one via the Yoomoney service.
- In September 2025, in Moscow, a 59-year-old Match TV engineer, Sergei Pimenov, was arrested on similar charges, and in April, a former dispatcher at the housing authority GBU “Zhilishchnik for the Zyuzino district,” Tatyana Shuvalova, was also arrested. Later, the charges against Shuvalova were extended to include participation in terrorist activities (Part 2, Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code).
- The ‘Artpodgotovka’ movement emerged among supporters of politician Vyacheslav Maltsev, who ran a YouTube channel of the same name and had called for a revolution on 5 November 2017. However, Maltsev left Russia in the summer of that same year. Just days before his announced “revolution,” a court declared ‘Artpodgotovka’ an extremist organisation, and its supporters began to be detained. In 2021, ‘Artpodgotovka’ was added to the list of terrorist organisations.
