The Dzerzhinsky District Court in St Petersburg has sentenced Diana Loginova (Naoko), the 18-year-old vocalist of the band “Stoptime,” to 13 days in custody due to street concerts. The musicians themselves told OVD-Info about this.
The singer was detained yesterday, 15 October. As a result, Diana was charged under articles on “discrediting the army” (Part 1, Art. 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and for “organising the simultaneous presence of people in a public place” (Art. 20.2.2). The first charge has not yet been considered, while an administrative arrest was imposed under the second.
The young woman spent the night at a police station and was brought to court in handcuffs.
18:17 The drummer of “Stoptime” was also sentenced to 13 days in custody, SOTAvision reports. Vladislav Leontyev was found guilty of organising a mass simultaneous gathering in a public place. The protocol stated that the musician obstructed pedestrian traffic, making it difficult for people to enter the metro station hall.
19:55 “Stoptime” guitarist Aleksandr Orlov was sentenced to 12 days in custody, reports SOTAvision. According to the protocol, the young man played music using sound amplification equipment and obstructed the movement of passers-by. The guitarist disagreed, saying the performance did not cause disruption to anyone.
The court ruled that performing songs on the streets of St Petersburg constituted “organising” a public event, reports Mediazona. The musicians allegedly disrupted “traffic and order” in the city, as 70 people gathered to listen to the performance at the same time.
The report to police on the musicians was made by 28-year-old Mikhail Nikolaev, who happened to see the performance on his way home from work.
