The project “Friede Allen e.V. (‘Peace to All’),” which assists clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church facing persecution due to their anti-war stance, has been designated an “undesirable organisation.” This information appeared on the Justice Ministry’s website.
The project is officially registered in Germany. Representatives of “Peace to All” noted that it became the first Orthodox organisation in Russia to receive such a status. “Nonetheless, we will continue our work, continue to profess the Gospel peace and speak about the value of human life, and of course, we will support anti-war confessors who have suffered for their position,” the statement said.
- “Peace to All” helps Russian Orthodox Church clergy who face pressure because of their anti-war stance: those who have been banned from the ministry, are being prosecuted in administrative and criminal cases, or “have otherwise been left without means of subsistence.” The project’s website states: “We call for unity so that we can offer them tangible assistance. […] We believe that through our collective efforts, the persecuted clergy will cease to be invisible and will feel that their sacrifice is very important to us. Let’s extend a helping hand to them.”
