The Norilsk City Court has fined a local resident 300,000 roubles (about US$3,250) in a case concerning the financing of extremist activity (Article 282.3 Part 1 of the Criminal Code). Mediazona drew attention to the publication of the decision issued on 5 August.
According to the verdict, he transferred 300 roubles (US$3.25) to the Anti-Corruption Foundation. The man pleaded fully guilty.
The verdict specifies only the surname and initials of the defendant—R. A. Butyrsky.
In May, Roman Alexandrovich Butyrsky was added to Rosfinmonitoring’s “terrorists and extremists” list. His place of birth is recorded as the city of Sayanogorsk, a town in southern Siberia. OVD-Info found Butyrsky’s VKontakte profile with the same date of birth, which lists Norilsk as his place of residence.
- In 2021, the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) and Navalny’s headquarters were designated extremist organisations. On 4 August 2021, this decision was upheld on appeal, after which it entered into force. Donations to FBK made after this date are treated by law enforcement agencies as financing extremist activity.
