Police in Adygea have detained members of a group of defrauded co-investors who were holding solo pickets. This was reported by “Ostorozhno, novosti” (“Caution, news”).

Between 2017 and 2019, the co-investors bought flats in the housing cooperative (ZhSK) “U Megi” in Novaya Adygea, located just outside Krasnodar in southern Russia. Since then, the developer has gone bankrupt, so the buildings were never completed.

Yesterday, the co-investors came out with placards bearing the phrase: “Kumpilov (head of Adygea—editor’s note) lied to the President of Russia, claiming that there are no defrauded co-investors in Adygea. We are ZhSK ‘U Megi,’ and we exist!”

Police detained three of the picketers, despite their saying they were standing more than 50 metres apart from each other. One of the placards was torn up. According to the co-investors, they were threatened “with being detained for eight years, put under pressure, and intimidated.” Law enforcement also threatened to confiscate the car belonging to one of those detained, because it contained banners.

Six hours after being detained, the co-investors were released from the police station without charge.
